This year we were delighted that PEP’s Handyperson Service (part funded by the Robertson Trust) was chosen as a finalist in the Product or Service “that makes a difference” category for the annual City of Edinburgh Councils ‘Get Up & Go Awards.’
The award ceremony was held at the Meadowbank Sports Centre on Thursday 1st October. George took volunteers Dode and Charlie and service recipient Mr Scullion along to soak up the atmosphere, browse the stalls and enjoy a cup of tea and a scone.
Unfortunately we did not win, but came second. Despite this it was an excellent event and a great honour to be nominated. We also received fantastic feedback:
“The judges were impressed with the level of service Pilton Equalities Project handyperson service provides to older people and by the significant contribution of volunteers.
A high level of commitment from volunteers is central to the success of this organisation. Volunteers take on tasks that older people are no longer able to carry out for themselves. Feedback from recipients demonstrates how important this service is to each individual.
