The third week of PEP’s summer programme of events included a trip to Dunbar, a craft class, the annual Summer Fayre and a visit to the Blair Drummond Safari Park.

The outing to Dunbar gave another opportunity for some shopping and relaxing.  It was great to have so many people going to the East Lothian harbour town including some who had never been there before.

The craft class switched topics this session with jewellery work making a return! The group got busy designing their own bracelets and necklaces, choosing their colours and shapes carefully to make some beautiful pieces of wearable art!

The Summer Fayre was held on the Thursday and the weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold! We were delighted to welcome along ‘MacMillan Cancer’, the ‘Knit and Natter Group’, ‘Bowel Cancer UK’ and Irena and Marion from the ‘Move it Project’. It was a great day with additional PEP stalls all fundraising. There was seated exercise at the central circle which was a popular choice for many, and a barbeque supplying burgers and sausages for the fayre goers.

The event was also visited by MSP Ben MacPherson and local Councillor Eleanor Bird  and the local community police came and joined in the fun too. George kept the music going and the fayre closed with the ever popular raffle. Thanks to all the staff, volunteers and attendees for making the day such a success.

Two buses made the annual pilgrimage to the wonderful Blair Drummond Safari Park. It was a dry day with the sun even making appearance. The buses started by going around the animal enclosures including the new baboon area! It was great to see all the monkeys with their babies clinging to them.  There was plenty of time for people to then do their own thing whether that meant relaxing with a packed lunch or heading for the boat trip around ‘Monkey Island’. It was a very busy day and just as everyone was stepping back onto bus it started raining; things couldn’t have been timed more perfectly.
