Special Birthday Celebrations at the Dunedin Club

This month PEP’s Dunedin club at Royston Mains Close hosted a very special birthday celebration; Jeannie Ramage turned 100 years young. Surrounded by her family friends and fellow club members, Moira took out all the stops to provide a fun filled afternoon for the birthday girl.

Farewell to Volunteer Fred

March marked the end of Fred Downie’s fourteen-year voluntary service as a mini-bus driver for PEP. The occasion was marked with a small presentation of a commemorative plaque and a bottle of the 12-year Glenfarclas Speyside single malt whisky, both of which were presented to him by PEP’s manager, Helen Tait.

New Bus

At the end of March PEP took delivery of a new bus. This new 14 seater vehicle was immediately put to use with Ian having the privilege of being the first to use it!

Thanks to Barry from Courtside Conversion for driving it all the way here from Tiverton in Devon for us! This brings PEPs fleet to 10 accessible buses an MPV and a works van.

Neighbourhood Group Visit the Zoo

The Tuesday neighbourhood group have had a real treat and have been lucky enough to be able to attend ‘Wild about Scotland’ run by the Royal Zoological Society Scotland at Edinburgh Zoo. The project is a series of eight adult education sessions run by experts from the zoo.

Good news: PEP has been chosen by John Lewis in Edinburgh as one of their 3 charities in their ‘community matters’ scheme; this quarter supporting charities who work with people with mental health issues. . To support us please visit John Lewis in the St. James centre. Pick up a token in their coffee shop ‘Place to Eat’ on the 4th floor and show your support by placing it in PEP’s spot.

Photography With the Weekend Resource

The Weekend Resource Group is currently working through a five-week ‘Introduction to Digital Photography and Camera Handling Skills’ course. Run by Luke, our student on placement from the University of Edinburgh, the relaxed and informal sessions cover the basic functions of the camera, as well as a few tips and tricks to help participants get more from their digital cameras.

Lord Provost Congratulates PEP

On the 30th of January 2015 the staff, volunteers and service users of PEP were invited to a civic reception hosted by Edinburgh’s Lord Provost the Rt. Hon. Donald Wilson.

40 lucky people went up to the City Chambers on the Royal Mile. To enjoy an evening designed to celebrate the work of the Pilton Equalities Project. They were all treated to a variety of drinks on arrival and mingled with the Lord Provost and other local North Edinburgh councillors.
