Branching Out is an award-winning program created by the Forestry Commission Scotland which helps to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of patients with mental health needs.
ELGT has worked with Pilton Equalities Partnership and CHANGES in the last few months which provided participants with:
Achievement of the John Muir Discovery Award
An understanding of woodlands, through exploratory activities and conservation tasks
Skills development in woodsmanship and woodland-based activities, as well as social and communication skills
Improved physical health and emotional well being, including increased confidence and self esteem for participants
Provided a structure and routine
Increased an awareness of the natural environment
