This year the party at the Queensberry Bowling Club fell on the 22nd December. Moira and volunteers Peter and Stephen did a fabulous job of decorating the tables. The decorations included luscious poinsettias donated by Pentland Plants and gifts on the tables for everyone from ‘Lindsay and Gilmour Pharmacy’.
60 people came along for the event with delicious food, as always, prepared by PEP’s dedicated staff and volunteers. Pate and oatcakes were followed by turkey with all the trimmings and a shortbread and fruit dessert.
This year’s entertainment was provided by Graham who put on a disco with a bit of singing thrown in. There was even a conga line snaking through the hall! The raffle had tonnes of prizes on offer including wine, chocolates and gift sets. The large poinsettias were also highly desirable this year! There were five large food hampers again donated by our friends at Liberton Hospital. With additional donations from ‘McKenzie & Millar’ and ‘Morrison’s Ferry Road’, it meant that there were plenty of opportunities to go home with an extra gift!
A special thank you must go out to the volunteers from ‘Heineken UK’ who came along specially to help out on the day. Thank you to Graham for the music, the Queensberry Bowling Club for hosting us and providing the bar facilities, to the staff and volunteers for making the day happen and to everyone who came along…. ‘Merry Christmas’!
