On the 12th December the Granton Baptist Church hosted PEP’s 2017 Christmas Celebrations; the hall was packed with 125 people who came along to enjoy the festive evening.
30 dancers from the ‘Edinburgh Dance Academy’’ arrived and kicked off the evening with 8 routines. As always their dancing was amazing and they wowed the audience with their talent and inspired routines and costumes (including witches and wild animals!).
This year’s PEP Pantomime Presentation was ‘The Night Before Christmas’; a play based on the Christmas poem by Clement C Moore. Again PEP’s staff, volunteers and group members took on the roles with guest appearances from school kids James and Ellie. This year’s star had to be Ray whose part as a mouse got huge laughs whenever he appeared. Additional entertainment was provided by the Literacy Groups poem, and the audience joined in with renditions of ‘When Santa Got Stuck up the Chimney’, ‘Jingle Bells’ and helped end the show with ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’.
This year’s Volunteer awards were presented by volunteer coordinator Elaine Anderson. Driver Addy Gordon got the ‘Special Recognition’ award; while the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award went to ‘Reindeer Extraordinaire’ Sharon Douglas.
The evening ended with the traditional raffle and a buffet for all prepared by PEP’s dedicated staff and volunteers.
