PEP’s Panto Time

2015 saw the return of ‘PEP’s Panto Time’ introduced by PEP volunteer and compair Ray Chisholm.

The evening kicked off with the dancers from the ‘Edinburgh Dance Academy’. They wowed the audience with their skills and routines. As always they were a delight to watch.

Christmas Craft Class

The Craft group celebrated the run up to Christmas with a one off crafting session.

It gave the group a chance to get all their Christmas cards made for that personal touch. Some of the group also created some fabulous Christmas hanging decorations for their trees.

Last month Tony Delahoy received France’s highest honour the ‘Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur’.

This month he was honoured again; this time at PEP’s AGM where he was presented with the award for PEP’s longest serving board member. Tony has diligently been PEP’s treasurer since 1990, and we all would like to thank him for his loyalty and volunteering services over the years.

Music, a quiz, a buffet and a free raffle all contributed to a fun evening to say thank you to our volunteers for all the time freely given. This year the winning quiz team was helped by George and "hearing dog" Tom two of our newest volunteers. Our thanks also go to Scottish Gas, Morrisons, Emma Hall Hair Design, Old Chain Pier, Diane Palmer and James Kay who all kindly donated raffle prizes.


PEP Volunteer Tony Receives France's Highest Honour

Everyone at PEP would like to congratulate Tony Delahoy our volunteer board member who was among nine Scots veterans to receive France’s highest distinction of honour for their role during the liberation of France during the Second World War.

Eight of the former servicemen received the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur at a presentation ceremony on board the French navy destroyer Aquitaine docked at Leith yesterday.

MP Visits PEP

MP Deirdre Brock took time out of her busy schedule to come along to North Edinburgh and visit PEP’s offices.

Helen Tait (PEP’s Manager), gave a descriptive tour of PEP’s History of service deliver with a 25 year photographic display. This was all brought to life with introductions to present staff, volunteers, time spent with the Neighbourhood Group as they made homemade soup and rolls and a chat with members of the computer class.

Get Up & Go Awards 2015

This year we were delighted that PEP’s Handyperson Service (part funded by the Robertson Trust) was chosen as a finalist in the Product or Service “that makes a difference” category for the annual City of Edinburgh Councils ‘Get Up & Go Awards.’

Farewell to Tasha

Natasha Ong came to PEP back in September 2014 as a student on a gap year placement. Whilst here she helped with every aspect of PEP’s service delivery; she volunteered as a reading buddy with the Tuesday literacy group, she assisted in delivering a class on healthy eating for the Neighbourhood group, and as a passenger escort with bus runs. At Christmas she made PEP’s panto extra special with her Grade 8 piano playing!

Councillors Visit to PEP

At the end of August 2015 four local councillors visited PEP to see a local voluntary sector organisation in action.  Councillors Lesley Hinds, Gavin Barrie, Maureen Child, Norman Work, Euan Renton, (CEC, Corporate Policy & Strategy Team) and Ian Brooke from EVOC were impressed with what they saw and spoke to PEP’s manager Helen Tait and board member and Treasurer Tony Delahoy at length about PEP’s role in the community.
